About the Institute
India Institute of Secretariat Training & Development
IISTD is an autonomous institute registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, functioning as an apex body to impart training to officers of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) and other organised and subsidiary services in the Central Secretariat.
CSS officers form the backbone of the Central Government Ministries and Departments, normally holding positions up to the level of Joint Secretary. The Institute equips government officials with domain knowledge, functional skills and behavioural competencies required for managing the task of governance.
IISTD provides technical skills of management, human skills for coordination roles and conceptual skills for leadership in public-policy planning and execution — working in close collaboration with national and international organisations, including SAARC and Commonwealth countries.
