Vision

A Premier Institute of Excellence

To be a premier institute of excellence in the country for capacity building of public-sector officials — strengthening public-service delivery and good governance towards sustainable development.

Mission

Building capability & character

  • Build the capacity of all public-sector officials, from cutting-edge to senior levels, based on organisational training needs.
  • Conduct research on development issues and training.
  • Update and enhance professional knowledge and skills for better performance of individuals and organisations.
  • Bring about the right attitudinal orientation, a culture of dedication and ethical values for the betterment of society.
  • Ensure evaluation of trainees, trainers and the impact of training.
  • Take e-Governance initiatives and build capacity for e-Governance.
  • Strengthen systems and techniques that support world-class public infrastructure and service delivery.

Purpose

Aims & Objectives

  • Training for All: decentralisation of training through Regional Training Centres, reaching the target group at the grassroots level.
  • Plan, design and conduct foundational, functional, refresher and specialised programmes for different grades of officials to help them perform more effectively.
  • Assist departments and organisations to assess training needs at various levels and design courses and materials to meet them.
  • Produce monographs and training literature/material (including audio-visual aids) relevant to the courses conducted by the Institute.
  • Improve e-Governance and e-learning skills.
  • Arrange training programmes as required by the various departments of the States and the Government of India.
